River Safety

River Current

The Trinity has a deceptively strong current, especially after rain. Always wear a life jacket when boating. Non-swimmers should not enter the water near the main channel.

River Levels

Monitor the USGS Trinity River gauge at Riverside before and during your trip. We close the ramp during high-water events. Call us anytime: (936) 348-6519.

Swimming

Swimming in the Trinity is at your own risk and is not recommended near the boat ramp due to boat traffic and current. Children must be supervised near the water at all times.

Wildlife

East Texas is home to water moccasins, copperheads, and alligators. Be cautious near the water's edge, especially at night. Always use a flashlight.
